Biography of Dr. Mustafa Karakan

I was born in October 1968 in Tarsus, Mersin. I completed my primary and secondary education in Tarsus and began my medical education at Çukurova University in 1985. Upon graduating from medical school in 1991, I completed my compulsory service between 1991 and 1994 in Pasinler, Erzurum.

In 1994, I commenced my specialization in Anesthesiology and Reanimation at Gaziantep University Faculty of Medicine. During my residency, I received extensive training in anesthesia, intensive care services, and pain management. I completed my residency in 1998 with a thesis on the Combined Epidural-Spinal anesthesia method, one of the key regional anesthesia techniques, and earned the title of specialist.

Starting in 1999, I worked as a specialist in anesthesiology at Cengiz Gökçek State Hospital in Gaziantep while also providing private services at “Ağrımer,” the region’s first and only private anesthesia and pain management center. Subsequently, I served at Gaziantep 75. Yıl Gynecology Hospital, specializing in obstetric anesthesia and analgesia within private hospitals in Gaziantep.

In 2005, I joined SEV American Hospital’s Anesthesiology and Reanimation Clinic. The following year, in collaboration with Dr. M. Ali Elmacıoğlu, I co-founded the "Pain (Algology)-Anesthesia" polyclinic. During this time, I enhanced my expertise in “Interventional Pain Treatments” by participating in training, courses, and congresses organized by the World Institute of Pain (WIP) and the Turkish Algology Association. These opportunities allowed me to engage in hands-on practical training under the guidance of esteemed mentors and peers. I shared my experiences at national and international pain congresses, showcasing my work on "Interventional Pain" treatments.

My clinical practice highlighted the limitations of conventional treatments, which primarily focused on symptom management rather than permanent solutions. This realization prompted my interest in "Complementary Medicine" in 2008, driven by the gaps in diagnostic approaches and therapeutic practices in classical medicine. I actively participated in the trainings, symposiums, and congresses of renowned organizations, including the Scientific Neural Therapy Association, the Scientific Complementary Medicine and Regulation Medicine Association, the Scientific Acupuncture and Regulation Association, and the Medical Ozone Association. During this time, I contributed to national congresses, sharing my innovative approaches and experiences in complementary medicine.

Between 2005 and 2013, I worked at the SEV American Hospital Anesthesiology-Pain (Algology) Clinic, collaborating with esteemed colleagues and patients. In 2011, following a nomination by Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Nazlıkul, the founder of Neural Therapy science in Turkey, I became a trainer at the Neural Therapy Association, contributing to its educational initiatives.

Since 2009, I have been actively involved in complementary medicine through the Scientific Neural Therapy Association (BNR) and the Internationale Gesellschaft für Neuraltherapie nach Huneke Regulationstherapie (IGNH). I serve as a trainer and a member of the Scientific Committee of the "Journal of Medicine, Regulation and Neural Therapy," contributing to the development of the field.

In 2013, I concluded my hospital-based role in anesthesiology and reanimation to establish my private clinic in 2014. This decision allowed me to focus on providing advanced, patient-centered treatments. Today, I continue to serve my patients, combining my expertise in conventional and complementary medicine, always striving to enhance their well-being.
